Healthy eating is essential to a child's well-being. EAN 1 is a basic protocol which is aimed at encouraging both children and adults to develop good eating habits. It is mainly meant for beginners who have not yet experienced the benefits of eating a whole food plant based diet. As a parent, the first thing you need to do is set a good example. Try and be a positive role model and eat plenty of nutritious foods. For instance, integrate variety of fruits and vegetables into their daily routine and let your children see you eating the same things.
With all of the marketing of junk food that is directed towards children, it’s no wonder that they tend to turn up their noses at the healthy food choices that we offer. Developing good eating habits in childhood sets the stage to keep them for a lifetime. Changing a habit for the better can change the trajectory of their life. Eating fruits and vegetables offer energy, anti-oxidants, fiber, vitamins and water, besides increasing immunity. They protect against diseases later in life. So, having a healthy meal plan is more than necessary to prevent future health issues.
Start small initially. Lasting change always starts with the small things. Start with a small portion of fruit and salad and slowly increase quantity and variety. Never eat fruits after consuming a cooked meal. Fruits should ideally be eaten first thing in the morning after your liquids. All variety of soaked nuts, seeds and sprouts may be consumed as snacks. As a general rule of thumb, 50% of your diet should consist of raw foods. Remember, animal protein is the root cause of majority of illnesses. Aim at totally eliminating animal products, dairy in any form, also packaged and processed foods. The only way that can be done is not to buy them in the first place.
