Constipation
Lets talk about your bowel movement
There are two crimes against nature which our civilization indulges in daily. One is the consumption of devitalised and refined foods which fail to nourish the organs. The other, which is most prevalent, particularly among young people, is ignoring the urge to evacuate the bowels by rushing to the bathroom and stopping everything we are doing at that moment. Both are responsible for the most common and popular of our ailments, constipation.
Bowel management is virtually an undiscussed topic in our culture and society. The average person is not sufficiently informed about this important function of life. It’s not considered nice to talk about. Somehow it has crept upon us that the bowel will take care of itself. There is an erroneous belief that anything we put in our mouth will be received with gratitude by the gastro-intestinal system. It is time we talk about this part of the body, which is so much in need of care in this day and age.
The selection of wrong foods and poor digestive health often leads to bowel problems. Research have shown that regular use of refined carbohydrates, lack of fiber in the diet, consumption of animal protein increases the transit time of bowel wastes and stimulate production of putrefactive bacteria in the bowel. These factors clubbed with synthetic medicines have been linked not only to bowel diseases such as colitis, diverticulosis and cancer but also to chronic disease elsewhere in the body.
If you are suffering from a long term chronic illness, you must learn to change your attitude and consciousness. You must learn to walk the higher path in thoughts, words and deeds.
Some people want to get well but don’t believe they can. They continue to hang onto their old habits and attitudes. This confused state is transferred to every cell in the body. This is why I question people about their mental attitude; we have to see where we are before we know where to go.
Have you gone “number two” today? Yesterday? The day before that?
Regular bowel movements are a key indicator of a properly functioning digestive system and our health. Proper elimination of toxins and waste is as important as the intake of food and nutrients. When we are constipated, the toxins are stuck sitting in our intestines, potentially being absorbed back into the bloodstream via a leaky gut. The waste in the intestines sits idle, producing bacteria that can disrupt the balance of healthy flora in our gut and lead to inflammation, chronic digestive concerns, allergies, skin rashes, eczema, fatigue as well as many other symptoms. This waste that sticks to our intestines may weigh up to 6 kgs or more. Toxins from this undigested waste regularly leak into the blood and may deposit in fatty tissues, liver and other internal organs.
The Digestive Process
We are what we eat, but we are also what we do not eliminate! Because it stays with us.
When we eat something, our mouth starts the digestion process by chewing and breaking down the food, which goes through the esophagus to the stomach. In the stomach, acid is added to the mix and the stomach muscle churns the food into a liqud state called chyme. The chyme is released from the bottom of the stomach through a sphincter into the small intestine where most of the body's nutrients are absorbed, and fat and other substances are dealt with bile and complex processes. Anyway, the new stool is taken to the large intestine, where most of the stool water is reabsorbed and formed into what we know as stool, and ready to be evacuated from the body through the rectum.
What is a Normal Bowel Movement?
In conventional medicine, the baseline requirement for regularity is three bowel movements a week. However, pooping at least once a day is a reasonably good sign of a healthy gut. Normal is a pretty loose term, but you should be having at least one bowel movement everyday and it should feel like you have completely evacuated your bowel. The stool should be well formed, not hard or pellet-like, loose or watery. Blood and mucus in stool is considered abnormal.
Greasy, Mucus forming, Dehydrated Foods
Processed, packaged and cooked foods are devoid of any water content. These dehydrated foods are saturated with refined oil, sugar, grease and chemical additives and are mucus forming. The digestive organs cannot process them efficiently, and place a huge burden on the stomach and intestines. In addition, the body has a great deal of waste to dispose of through the colon in the form of used-up cells and tissues. When these “demagnetised” foods pass through the body system, they leave a coating on the inner walls of the colon like plaster on a wall. In the course of time this coating may gradually increase in thickness, until there is only a small tube-like hole remains in the center, just enough for a pencil like stool to pass through. The consequent result is slow starvation of cells.
The Colon - your Body’s Sewer
The colon is a natural breeding ground for bacteria. The purpose and function of this bacteria is to neutralize, dissipate, avoid and prevent a toxic condition from developing in the colon. However, there are two types of bacteria: namely, the healthy, scavenging type known as bacilli coli, and the pathogenic or disease-producing kind. In a proper, clean, healthy environment the healthy scavenging bacteria outnumber and control the pathogenic kind.
When too much fermentation and putrefaction is generated in the colon, the pathogenic bacteria proliferate and ailments result. It is necessary that such waste be expelled from the body, and for this purpose your colon is equipped with a very efficient system of elimination. That is to say, “efficient” if it is in good and proper working order, functioning on the schedule suited to your physical condition.
The very best of diets can be no better than the very worst if the sewage system of the colon is clogged with a collection of waste and mucus. When we eat two, three, or more cooked meals in a day, it is impossible, not to have residue accumulation in the colon, in the form of undigested food particles. Furthermore, not only does food waste accumulate in the colon, but also in the millions of cells and tissues. Once they have completed their lifecycle, these highly toxic dead protein cells, ferment and putrefy if allowed to remain in the colon longer than necessary.
In simple words, the colon is the sewage system of the body. Nature’s laws of preservation and hygiene require and insist that this sewage system be cleansed regularly. Not to cleanse the colon is like having the entire garbage collecting staff in your city go on strike for days on end! The accumulation of garbage in the streets creates putrid, smelly, unhealthy gases which are dispersed into the atmosphere.
The fact of the matter is that constipation is the number one affliction underlying nearly every ailment; it can be assumed to be the initial, primary cause of nearly every disturbance of the human system. It is vital to stress that constipation affects the health of the colon, upon which the health of the whole body depends.
The Internal Uncleanliness of Man
Chronic constipation is the worst and most common crime against life and self, a crime unconsciously committed, and one whose full enormity is not yet fully realized. The constipated one is loaded with such a mass of internal filth, that it can only be called "indescribable." His or her alimentary tract, reaching up from the mouth of the anus to his or her throat, is filled with a morbid mucus—undigested, decayed, and retained food substances, all of which are in a state of fermentation and putrefaction. Their intestines have never had a perfect cleansing during their entire lifetime.
It is certainly very important that the brain and nerves of men and women are supplied with pure blood, and are not dependent on blood polluted with impurities arising from an unclean alimentary canal. "Unclean" is too mild a word when we are dealing with the worst kind of a filthy condition.
In the words of Arnold Ehret ....
"It is a fact that humans, the product of the present "civilized" society of this much-vaunted
"advanced" twentieth century, are born unhealthy because their mothers, during pregnancy, are
almost invariably suffering from constipation. And I say further, that while in this state she
usually eats two to three times as much as is necessary. This causes the so-called normal, more
or less healthy person, to be somewhat encumbered from infancy. At the conclusion of each discharge, the anus must be artificially cleansed, which shows that the internal walls of the intestines must also retain, after
each passage, quantities of this same filth".
A physician of Berlin, whose lifework was the performing of autopsies, stated that 60 percent of all the corpses, contained in the alimentary canal various foreign mater, worms and putrefied feces. He further stated that in nearly all cases, the walls of the intestines and colon were lined with a crust of hardened feces, making it evident that these organs had degenerated to a state of utter inefficiency. Retained fecal matter is one of the chief causes of disease.
The latent deposit of stagnant matter, consisting of retained waste products, acts oppressively, by slowly absorbing toxins from the undigested food lying in the intestines thereby corrupting the blood. We must eliminate the presence of unevacuated feces, retained through sticky mucus in the pockets of the intestines, constantly poisoning, and thereby interfering with proper digestion and blood building.
The adulterated, unnatural, man-made foods of present day civilization are the underlying causes of all evils to which humans fall prey to everyday. Health will not return, nor can it be regained, through drug remedies or the various treatments, since supreme, absolute health is dictated by the laws of diet!
The Root Cause of Illness
Digestive troubles plague modern man. Constipation heads the list of his miseries. Tons upon tons of pills, herbal powders and liquids are sold to try and flush out the waste packed into people’s intestines and colon. These not only have a drying effect on the intestines but also add to the problem.
Modern man packs food into himself faster than the functions of digestion and elimination can handle it! This is very much like trying to race your car with the brakes on. The body can take a lot of abuse from wrong foods and overfeeding. But there comes a day when the body’s digestive system becomes over-stuffed, overworked and overwhelmed – it’s then that health problems begin!
The very first things you will notice are the bad odors and rancidity. Then the food will mold, ferment and bubble with gas. This gas pressure causes many miseries in the body. If the air element presses upward against the diaphragm you may even have stimulated a sense of heart attack. As it presses against the back muscles, it can cause terrible backaches. This fermenting mass of putrefaction is always throwing off toxins which can cause pounding headaches, mysterious aches and pains all over the body.
This rotting, fermented fecal matter is a perfect breeding ground for all kinds of harmful bugs and disease producing bacteria. If you are prone to viruses such as colds, chronic sinusitis and other ailments, a constipated condition creates a favorable environment for the presence and growth of unfriendly “bugs” involved in such ailments. Such constipation is not only in the stomach and intestines, but also in the tissues and cells. This constipation is derived from unnatural, uneliminated accumulations of waste that build up in the human body from childhood.
There is scientific reasoning that constipation is the foundation of many other body ailments. The reasoning behind this conclusion is sound. If constipation means retention of waste, here’s a simple test you can take. Prepare your next meal, made up of everything you would ordinarily eat, but don’t eat a mouthful of it. Instead, put it in a pot; then place the container with the food in a temperature around 100 degrees, the same as inside the body. See that there is a liberal quantity of moisture. Now watch what occurs over the next 8 hours. The same happens inside our body.
Pus and mucus forming foods are unnatural for humans to eat and are difficult to digest. The elimination of undigested food and other waste products is equally as important as the proper digestion and assimilation of food. Few of us realize that failure to effectively eliminate waste products from the body causes so much fermentation and putrefaction in the large intestine, or colon, that the neglected accumulation of such waste can, eventually result in a diseased state.
Constipation is a symptom and it has a root cause. You can’t fix constipation simply by identifying that you have constipation. You can only fix constipation once you identify WHY you have constipation. If you only know the symptom, you can only focus on suppressing those symptoms in the short-term. Using laxatives is a great example of only temporarily suppressing the constipation symptom. And while you may notice some improvement, your constipation will most likely remain, return or progressively worsen, unless the underlying root cause is identified and treated.
The Real Culprit – The Food We Eat
If a person has eaten processed, fried and overcooked foods, devitalized starches, sugar and excessive amounts of animal protein including dairy, his colon cannot possibly be efficient, even if he has a bowel movement two to three times a day. Instead of giving nourishment to the nerves, muscles, cells and tissues of the walls of the colon, such foods can actually cause starvation of the colon. A starved colon may allow a lot of fecal matter pass through it, but it is unable to efficiently carry on the the digestive and nourishing processes and functions as expected.
In order to thrive, the human body must be nourished with raw foods which have life giving properties. Fruits and green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds (i.e., mucus-free foods) are the most healing and powerful foods for humans. There are also foods whose ultimate function is to cleanse and remove used-up cells and tissues and pilot this waste matter to the colon for evacuation.
Fiber is essential for the proper and complete digestion of food. When these fibers pass through the intestines they become, figuratively speaking, highly magnetised, and in this condition are very helpful in the functions involved in the various parts of the intestines. The fibre also acts like an “intestinal broom,” to remove that part of our food which is not digested.
Lack of energy and sickness at any age is the direct result of loading up the body with food which contains no vitality, and at the same time allowing the intestines to remain loaded with waste matter. A diet of fruits and green leafy vegetables (i.e., mucus-free foods) are the most healing and powerful foods for humans. Fruits and vegetables keep digestion normal, and have been linked to decreasing the risk and effects of several diseases. So, supercharge your health with a fruit and vegetable-centered approach to your raw food diet.
